Monroe Public Schools has recently received two gently used, maroon-colored vans from Meijer. These vans will be used for Monroe Public School’s maintenance department. The two MPS vans will be replacing the two recently used older vans in MPS district, which were decided to be dangerous and no longer safe to operate.
The delivery of the two vans took place Tuesday, Oct. 11. The vans were from the Grand Rapids, Michigan-based retailor and were valued at $10,000, which was considered by MPS a generous donation that will help with the maintenance department.
MPS director of operations Jerry Oley, said, “We are so grateful to Meijer for this donation, these opportunities to obtain vehicles in this condition do not come around often.”
Meijer is known for its generous donations to nearby schools including Monroe Public Schools District.
These vehicles should help to create a safe environment for the district’s staff that should have a great impact on the school’s maintenance.
“Monroe Public Schools should be proud to have a great neighbor like Meijer,” said Oley.
Meijer has stated that they are more than willing to help Monroe Public Schools and are pleased with recent outcome of the receiving of the vans. The maintenance has been told that the vans will be cleaned and decorated in Monroe Public Schools colors and spirit.
