On Saturday, April 20, the Monroe High School Girls Varsity Soccer team took a short bus ride to St. Mary Catholic Central’s home field, The Nest, to participate in the SMCC Invitational.
This tournament, featuring many teams including SMCC, Allen Park, Ypsilanti, and more, favored the Lady Trojans.
The Monroe girls started the day off strong, defeating Allen Park High School 5-2.
Moving up in the bracket, the Lady Trojans would face Ypsilanti Community High School, winning their second game 4-0, a complete shutout.
Finally, the last game of the day was the championship. Fighting for the title of champion were Wyandotte High School Bears taking on our very own MHS Trojans. With a final score of 3-1, the Trojans clinched the win.
Congratulations to our varsity girls soccer team on this series of great wins!
