On Saturday, April 27, Monroe High School hosted its second annual Throw Down in Trojan Town at the high school.
Monroe Coach Joel Reed invited top discus throw and shot put teams in the state, including Airport, SMCC, Zealand, Hillsdale, Jefferson, Grosse Pointe North, and Saline.
The Trojans made an impressive showing at their home meet, with 4 Monroe athletes fighting to earn their medals.
Senior Kendall Gunter placed sixth in both discus throw and shot put.
Junior Delmar Clay placed eighth in the shot put.
Sophomore Nolan Cacioppo placed eighth in discus throw.
Junior Teegan Simmons placed third in the discus throw and fifth in the shot put.
After the events had concluded, the top 8 in each event were placed on the Trojan blocks and awarded an Irish sash and their new medal.
