With the recent renovations happening at Monroe High School, the art around the building is also getting a fresh coat of paint. Some of the murals in the school stairwells have been on display for over 20 years and are not only dated but don’t coincide with our goals as a school today. This is why this year Art Club will be finishing the first new mural for Monroe High School, and we plan to release the mural as soon as it is finished.
Though the mural does not have a definite final location, students will hopefully see it in one of the A-Wing stairwells.
Although this reporter was not the original creator of the mural idea, I do plan to lead this one to its completion. In an interview with Mrs. McBroom, she said that she “Liked the idea of modernizing artwork in the school” and that even when starting with the murals coming after we will “have different ideas because thoughts will change in the upcoming year”.
All the members of the art club are excited and eager to get this mural finished and released.
