Based off of Emily Griffin’s 2004 novel of the same name, Something Borrowed hit theatres on Friday, May 6, 2011. The movie stars Ginnifer Goodwin as Rachel White, Colin Egglesfield as Dex Thaler, Kate Hudson as Darcy Rhone, and John Krasinski as Ethan (Rachel’s male best friend).
The movie was the perfect balance of romance and comedy. The story line is simple: two girls had been best friends since diapers. One best friend was pushy, self-centered, and petty; the other, too naïve to understand how her best friend acted. Best friend A is engaged to the crush of best friend B. Best friend B ends up having an affair with said crush. The rest is history.
Colin Egglesfield certainly made hearts swoon as he played a very convincing male lead. The chemistry between Egglesfield and Goodwin was perfect. The two worked well together, convincing the audience that they were truly head-over-heels for each other.
Krasinski, more commonly known as Jim Halpert from The Office, broke the tension that was in the movie. His quick wit and sense of humor kept audiences laughing throughout the movie.
The movie isn’t one that is going to win an Academy Award; it is, however, a great movie to watch with girlfriends on a Saturday night.
