On March 7, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry were interviewed by Oprah Winfrey. In the interview, they discussed the reasons in which they left the royal family. A lot of the things that came out were shocking and hard to believe for a lot of people. From racism to blatantly lying about Markle, there was no holding back from the information that was brought forward. It was very good that this information was brought forth to the public to hold the royal family accountable for its actions.

One of the major events that was brought up that caused Harry and Markle to leave was the royal family saying they might not be able to give Archie, Markle’s son, a title after his birth depending on how dark his skin was. That is absolutely insane. When you think about the people who are supposed to be guiding and leading a country, that blatant racism towards a member of their own family is not okay. The whole family needs to be held responsible for their actions because if they are leading a population with many people of mixed race and this is how they treat family, that is scary.

Another thing that was brought up was the reaction to Markle’s mental health struggles and her not getting the help that was promised to her. Markle asked for help because of the stress and everything that was being said about her that caused her to become depressed and, even though they had a whole mental health campaign, refused to get her the help she deserved. And the fact that they did this after saying they were advocating for getting people help with their mental health is ridiculous to do to their own family and something they need to address.

One of the last things that stood out in this interview was Harry saying “My biggest fear was history repeating itself” when talking about his mother, Princess Diana, which made a lot of people speculate about her death. It has been a thought for years that she was murdered, but Harry saying it like that really made people stop and wonder if this was him saying that she was murdered and if the royal family might do something like this again and that really is concerning.

The royal family has done a lot of wrong to these two and need to be held accountable for their actions against them. Doing those types of things to members of their own family is something that should never happen and makes people concerned about the type of people that run their country.
