COVID-19 changes AP testing schedule

School this year has been a major change for all of us, including the AP students and teachers.

AP Language and Composition teacher Doug Schade said that he is very impressed with his students’ work ethic and that teachers have decided that students are going to get their education and prepare for their future despite the pandemic and the situation we are in. “They have shown a lot of resilience and grit during this time,” Schade added.

Junior Emilia McLeod is taking AP English 11 and AP Psychology, and she mentioned right away that both classes are “definitely harder.”

“The content is less engaging with the same large workload, so I find it difficult to complete assignments, especially while understanding them fully,” McLeod said.

With exams coming up in the 2020-2021 school year, students who take advanced placement classes may have questions concerning when the exams may be held.

Monroe High School offers the most AP courses to students in the country, according to our school’s website. “The advanced placement courses provide challenging chances for any student to earn college credit in high school.” (monroe.k12.mi.us).

1.24 million plus  American high school students who graduated in 2018 took about 4.22 million AP Exams (studentreserachfoundation.org). Right now, MHS is offering students ten different AP courses that are available for students to take (monroe.k12.mi.us).
