Donald Trump becomes first president ever to be impeached twice

As of Wednesday, Jan. 13, Donald Trump became the first-ever president in U.S history to have been impeached two times. After a large group of Trump supporters rioted at the Capitol, several people are blaming Trump for encouraging the violence on that day. He denied any responsibility for what happened.

A number of people, including some Republicans Congressmen and women, agree with the decision to impeach Trump once again.

On Monday, Jan. 11, The House of Representatives began the process of impeaching Trump. First, they introduced an article of impeachment. They accused Trump of “incitement of insurrection.” Next, they had to vote on the article of impeachment. The majority of the house must vote in favor of impeachment in order for Trump to be impeached.

On Wednesday, Jan. 13, the House voted to impeach Trump. Two hundred and thirty two members of the house voted to impeach Trump, and 197 members of the house voted against it.

Ten Republicans voted against Trump, while the rest stayed loyal to him.

Just impeaching Trump does not mean he will be removed from office. In order for Trump to be removed from office, the impeachment article must go to the Senate and receive 67 votes in favor of conviction.

Even though it will be long after Trump’s Presidency is over that the Senate decides whether he will be convicted or not, that decision is still important because if he is convicted he will not be able to run for the Presidency in future elections.
