The 20-21 Monroe High School boys varsity tennis season officially came to a close ending the season with a record of 2-6.

Coach Stephen Reau said he was surprised that the team had gained so many players in one year, especially after his major loss of over half of the team graduating last year.

Reau said he was proud of his team for being able to keep playing this season.

“I’m very proud of the team for being able to still play even with all of this craziness going on in the world, and on top of that, for being able to help our newer players begin their first season,” Reau said.

Many of the players on the team expressed their worry for what may have happened during the season.

Sophomore Kyle Pafford said he was very proud of the team this season.

“I was worried about the team a lot after what had happened with Coach Reau’s first warning with the athletics department,” Pafford said.

Their season ended in an unremarkable final match against Saline, but with a triumphant return to the team’s favorite eatery, Five Guys restaurant.
