Monroe football ends season with a loss to Dearborn

Monroe ended its season in a disappointing fashion, losing to Dearborn 20-15 in the first round of the playoffs.

Monroe took an 8-7 lead at the end of the first quarter with a three-yard touchdown run from Jacob Blosser. Monroe’s offense struggled after the early touchdown, not being able to put up any points the next two quarters.

Monroe’s defense had a solid game but was unable to get a few important stops. The Trojans added a fourth quarter touchdown from Tayshaun Nichols.

Noberto Flores tacked on an extra point, but it wasn’t enough to get the win.

Coach Nick Notario spoke after the game, saying, “I’ll have to look at the film. We had a good week of practice. It’s on me. I didn’t put the kids in the most advantageous spots to succeed.”

This may have not been the end to the season that Monroe wanted, but they have to be proud of the way they fought hard throughout the season and never gave up. Congratulations to the seniors on a successful four years of highschool football!
