REVIEW: New The Weeknd album proves to be fan favorite

The Weeknd recently released a new album titled  “After Hours.” Many people have listened, and there have already been 70 million records sold of the album just in the United States. Many fans anticipated that this album would be coming in the summer of 2019, which is when The Weeknd and Bella Hadid broke up. Most of The Weeknd’s songs are about heartbreak, which is why fans knew an album was on the rise. The last album was released in 2018, so many fans were ready for a new one.

“After Hours” is mainly about how The Weeknd feels as if he now has no one after he and his girlfriend broke up. In this album, the lyrics are pretty sad, which is like many other albums. Whether he is blaming himself about what happened or talking about how tired he is of everyone knowing what is constantly going on in his life, The Weeknd repeatedly shows a theme of sadness.

One of the songs that many people seem to like is “Save Your Tears.” In this song, he talks about how his ex saw him at a party and how she was happy until she saw him, but he knows she deserves someone better than him. In this song, he is acting very cold to his ex, which is very normal when it comes to older songs that had to do with his exes. Even though these lyrics are very sad, the beat is steady throughout the song and pretty upbeat with some favorite sounds from old music combining with newer popular sounds.

One song that hasn’t seemed to be a fan favorite song is “Escape From LA.” Compared to a lot of other songs in the album, it seems to be a little bit slower and longer. This song is mainly about the ins and outs of his relationship due to the fast-moving life in LA. The bridge is very repetitive, which doesn’t really help the song out. In my opinion, this song is probably my least favorite because of how slow and almost quiet it is.

I’m not surprised that many people have been saying this is The Weeknd’s best album yet. You can really tell how heartbroken he really is over this girl and how he blames himself but is slowly getting over it. By the end of the album, you can tell he is just tired of dealing with heartbreak. The way the beat seems happy but the lyrics in every song are telling a story is always really good about an album (especially one like this), so I definitely agree that this is one of his best albums yet.
