The NCAA Selection Committee announced the four teams that  will be included in the 5th annual College Football Playoffs. After the Utah and Georgia loss on Saturday, that opened up the last spot for OKlahoma. Everyone knew who the four teams in the playoffs were going to be. LSU, Clemson, Ohio State, and Oklahoma. The question was who would get the number one spot.

The three undefeated teams all had a claim for getting the number one spot — Clemson, Ohio State and LSU.

Clemson who hasn’t been defeated since they won the national championship game last year could make  a valid argument for getting the No. 1 spot, but has had a soft schedule this year due to the weakness of the ACC.

Ohio State also had a valid reason for the number one spot, by having the hardest strength of schedule of the three undefeated teams. They even held the number one spot going into Championship Saturday but struggled against Wisconsin in the championship game even trailing by 14 at one point.

LSU who had the strongest claim at getting the number one spot, had the most top ten wins of any undefeated team, and may very well have the potential heisman quarterback on their team. After dominating Georgia  37-10 in the SEC championship game that may have clinched LSU getting the number one spot.

The playoff committee announced that the number one seed is LSU,the No. 2 seed is Ohio State, the No. 3 seed is Clemson, and the No. 4 seed is Oklahoma. That means:

LSU(1) vs Oklahoma(4) in the Chick fila Peach Bowl

Ohio State(2) vs Clemson(3) in the Playstation Fiesta Bowl.

The other New Year Six bowl games is:

Memphis vs Penn State in the Good Year Cotton Bowl Classic

Florida vs Virginia in the Capital One Orange Bowl

Oregon vs Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl

Georgia vs Baylor in the AllState Sugar Bowl
