A group of seniors at MHS have come together with members of the staff and administration to make changes in different places in the school. The committee was formed after the complications that occurred after homecoming.
This group includes senior class advisors and members of various clubs and organizations, such as The Lotus Leaf, Pep Club and Student Council. This group will tackle different matters including trying to make the future dances better for students.
Principal Bill Ferarra said everyone is trying to work together to get things started.
“It’s really putting a foundation in place that allows us to work with each other, to meet a common goal,” Ferarra said.
Senior Pep Club member Nini Anderson, who was a part of the committee, said she believes this group will be accepted by students if they see their peers involved.
“If they see kids they look up to working with administrators to make their experience better, they will have a positive attitude toward it,” Anderson said. “We truly just hope to make it a better environment for everyone and make sure everyone leaves happy and can say they had a good time.”
Sophomore Olivia Beeler said that the seniors are aware of the wants of the students.
“I think the seniors know the students and know what changes we want made so this could end up going well if the administrators take the suggestions that they give them to improve things,” Beeler said.
Ferrara said with student help there are things that can be things fixed about the problems at the dances.
“There’s more things that we may not even know that we can do. And that’s why we need that student voice. It’s very important to us,” Ferrara said.
