For one week, Pretty Little Liar fans were clinically diagnosed with Finale Fever. Stars of the show tweeted how anxious they were for their fans to watch the season finale, which aired on Monday, March 21. Fans everywhere were not disappointed.
The finale was the perfect blend of suspense and romance. The blooming romance between Spencer (Troian Bellasario) and Toby (Keegan Allen) had hopeless romantics across the country swooning. Although many were disappointed when Spencer’s original romantic interest Alex broke up with her, they couldn’t have found a better replacement for her love. Picture perfect couple Aria (Lucy Hale) and Ezra (Ian Harding) face hardships. Quite frankly, many saw this coming because their relationship was too uneventful. For the entirety of the first season, the couple could only be together when in hiding. Other than that, they didn’t have any difficulties, so something has to happen. Any fortune teller would predict a bumpy ride for this relationship.
The finale was chock full of suspense. Hearts raced as different “A” messages were sent, a certain relationship was unveiled, and suspects disappeared. Controversy involving who killed Allison and who “A” may be is debated between friends. Although the storyline wasn’t clear as to who was talking to whom at times, the show definitely left fans craving more. Love interest and sexy bad boy Caleb Greene (Tyler Blackburn) reappeared after Hanna broke up with him. In an earlier episode, it was revealed that he was paid by Jenna to find a key. This started the domino effect that broke the couple up. Lucas was seen driving Caleb back to Hanna, but where the two ended up was left a mystery.
The finale of the first season was most definitely the best episode thus far. Those who have yet to watch it, should.
