Student stands up against bullying
December 26, 2017
Most of the time bullying is a touchy subject when talking about it but everyone has a different experience of when they were bullied, witnessed someone else being bullied, or were the bully themselves.
This is a harsh world we live in. You can’t ever get a break from someone starting drama. Schools all around the world, local stores and restaurants, even at MHS, many people are being bullied every day.
Not a single person will ever be friends with everyone. There will always be people who dislike one another and don’t communicate with one another for whatever reason. You don’t have to be friends with everyone, but hating on them because they’re different isn’t okay.
People are constantly talking, whether it’s about how you dress or what kind of music you listen to; someone will have something negative to say.
Being bullied can make you feel like you’re worthless, a horrible person, a mistake.
An anonymous source detailed how she has been being made fun of and picked on for years because she was “annoying” and “too loud”.
Everyone goes through that awkward stage when they don’t know where they fit in with others, so they try to just fit in with everyone. Sometimes, you just have to test the waters of a group of people.
When a person is bullied for a long enough time, it can sink them into depression. The negative thoughts can result in someone self-harming or even worse, committing suicide.
Another anonymous source has been being bullied because her teeth are not perfectly straight.
Everyone will always have their own opinion of what a “perfect” person should be: having the straightest teeth, the most beautiful hair, the best clothing, the most popular shoes, etc. Not everyone’s likes and dislikes are the same.
I feel terrible for these people; not only the victims, but for the bullies, too. How can someone be so cold-hearted that they have to break down someone else for them to be happy?
Seems to me that people think everyone in the world should be the exact same person and should have the exact same personalities. If they aren’t just like other people, they’re being pushed around and made fun of because of it.
Nobody is perfect and nobody will ever be perfect. Everyone has their flaws and insecurities, that’s what makes us human. This growing situation isn’t okay. It needs to be put to an end.
If you feel that you are being bullied, tell someone so that you can get the help you need.
