New AP courses come to MHS

It was recently announced in TFT by administration that with a new school year for 2017-18, the fall will also bring new courses for Monroe High students to take.

Monroe High School currently offers Advanced Placement courses to students, which allows them the ability to earn college credits in high school, and now the school is increasing its number of courses.

Among the new AP courses, AP World History and AP Art will be available to all students at MHS. AP U.S. History will also be available, but under different conditions.

“Although AP U.S. History will be a new AP course, it will only be available for the new incoming freshman,” Scott Hochradel said, who is a counselor here at MHS. Sophomores through seniors cannot take AP U.S. History due to the fact that both US History and AP US History cannot both be on their transcripts.

New foreign language courses will also become available to all students who have completed prerequisites for them. German 1 and Japanese 3 will both be available to MHS students.

Those students who are interested in taking any of the above should report their interest to their TFT teacher and/or their counselor.
