In this year’s tenth season of American idol, in attempt to keep things fresh and exciting, producers have made several major alterations to the show. Changes that were made to the show include: new age requirements, no theme, and new judges. These were only a few changes that were made, along with a couple others.
Simon Cowell, Kara DioGuardi, and Ellen DeGeneres, old judges of idol have been replaced by Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler; Randy Jackson is still one of the judges. Now they’re the ones that everyone is relying on to make the right decisions throughout the whole show.
Since changes have been made, people can call in to vote from the top 24. Also, the age that people can tryout has been lowered to 15. Producers hope to find a larger talent of people this year. (www.Americanidol10.com)
Now on the show there is no gender parity, which means there will no longer be equal members of boys and girls. They figured by doing that it could give more people chances of being on the show. Also, contestants on the show will no longer be singing covers of songs but will work with a singer/songwriter and have the songs tailored to suit their needs. If you sing country, the song will have to be more country. That takes place with any other genre, also.
While season 10 seems to have a lot more alterations to the show. Change in general is nothing new to American Idol. They also have had many other changes in the past. The reason for all the changes is to make the show better and have as many viewers as possible. (www.suite10.com)
