Trump’s Inauguration
After eight years with Barack Obama, his term as the 44th president of the United States has ended and Donald J. Trump has taken over as the 45th president. Trumps Inauguration was Jan. 20, 2017, at Washington D.C. on the west front of the United States Capitol Building.
After being sworn into the presidency, Trump gave his own written speech. He spoke to the audience with pride and first he thanked the four presidents who were in attendance and the Chief Justice.
“Chief Justice Roberts, President Carter, President Clinton, President Bush, President Obama, fellow Americans and the people of the world thank you,” President Trump said (nbcnews,com).
He then went on to America’s current problems and how he will improve on them. The crowd cheered on as some Americans hope for a good term with the new .
The day of the Inauguration had an average temperature of 37 degrees and small spurts of rain. Even though the day was gloomy, the crowd still showed.
Major controversy up roared between Trump and the media when it came to his Inauguration crowd. Trump accused the media at the CIA headquarters of lying about the size of the crowd (ABC.net). Later after that his press secretary, Sean Spicer, stated more facts about the number of people.
“It was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period, both in person and around the globe,” Spicer said (ABC.net).
Trump’s advisor Kellyanne Conway claimed the incorrect facts about the crowd size were simply “alternative facts” on NBC news (Chicagotribune.com).
During the Inauguration, thousands stood out on the side holding signs and flags protesting Trumps presidency. Police were injured and more than 200 arrested (Bing.com).
