Starting on Monday, Dec. 19, the senior Class of 2017 will be hosting a holiday-themed week of fundraising.

The week of Dec. 19 is a shortened week, with only two and a half school days before holiday break begins on Dec. 22. Each day during the week holds a different fundraising event for all students to participate in.

Monday, which is a full day of school, the class will be hosting an Ugly Christmas Sweater Day. The uglier the sweater, the better.

Tuesday, which is also a full day, there will be a Food Court hosted by the senior class during all lunches.

“Holiday music will be playing in the background,” said senior Mikayla Tucker, vice president of the Class of 2017. The class is hoping to do everything that they can to get students into the spirit of the holidays.

Wednesday, which is a half day of school for all students, the class will be selling hot chocolate and donuts. These will be sold for a low price ($3 for both) before school begins, and will be available at a table in the commons, as well as in front of A wing.

Sven Wollschlaeger, the president of the senior class, said the money raised during the fundraising week will go towards the prom for the senior class.

“We picked up a lot of momentum with Homecoming,” said Wollschlaeger.

The class has now earned enough money to pay for prom, which is scheduled to take place on May 5, 2017 at the Henry Ford Museum.

The senior class plans on holding more fundraising events at school, so students can expect plenty of activities to participate in this year, including the upcoming week of holiday-themed fundraising.
