It’s everyone’s favorite time of year–the temperatures are dropping, the leaves are turning, and new fashion trends are popping up everywhere–fall is here.

The high temperature for this week is 20 degrees below what it was a month ago- and everyone knows what that means. Soon, every school hall and Starbucks will be full of people donning the usual leggings and over-sized sweaters, along with this year’s new styles.

Perhaps the most popular trend this year is solid, dark, muted colors. From Instagram to school halls, these colors have spread like wildfire.

The muted colors began last year with the obsession over olive green- but have grown this year to cover tans, deep reds, grays, and even midnight blues as well. Most often, these are worn as tops or dresses, but they are becoming popular lip colors, as well.

Bold lips have seen a rise in popularity in recent months. Recently, these bold fall colors have replaced the pale pink favorites of the past. Liquid lipsticks are now the preferred applicator for lip color- over even the timeless stick (thanks, Kylie Jenner).

With the temperatures dropping, more and more people are stepping out in boots. Last year, the popular choice was duck boots, which still remains true today, but they’re being slowly replaced by knee high boots.

Typically, these boots are made from suede and follow the trend of bold colors as well. Some, however, are black and reach higher than the knee.

No matter what their exact style is, these tall boots go great with the suede skirts that have popped up as well. Pair the boots and skirt with a plain black sweater, and you’ve got the perfect fall outfit.

The overall theme of the trend this year seems to be boldness. Just remember- the bolder the look, the better.
