Student expresses concern over possible Trump presidency
October 18, 2016
Donald Trump is this year’s Republican Party representative in this presidential election, but he stands out more than any other candidate. With Obama’s term coming to an end, the American people have been gathering more and more information about the Republican nominee, Donald Trump and the Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton. With all this information, it is clear that this election’s Republican representative is not capable to lead this country.
Trump’s presidential claims don’t make sense and could put America as a whole in danger. Trump plans to oppress education and start allowing guns in classrooms as soon on his first day of office (washingtonpost.com). Even though gun control in school is a growing problem all over America, having guns present at all time during class is not only an inconvenience, but is just plain dangerous. The more freely guns become available, the more violence that is possible. Rather than having guns at schools, schools should try to strengthen security and safety protocols.
Trump is also rising in the election by projecting negative images of illegal immigrants. During one of his speeches, Trump claimed that Mexican immigrants are committing large amounts of drug crimes and sexual assaults (cbsnews.com). He believes that by deporting them and building a wall, he’ll be able to “make america great again.” The U.S. population is 11.1 percent immigrants and making them leave would have a large effect on the country. For example, 53 percent of crop labor is performed by illegal immigrants (numbersusa.com) meaning that crop produce prices would skyrocket if Trump’s plan came into play.
Some people of this country claim that Trump is a candidate that respects everyone for who they are, but recent and past findings say otherwise. During his lifetime, Donald Trump has disrespected veterans, women, and the handicapped. Trump disrespected the image of a dead Muslim veteran during a speech because his father spoke that Trump hasn’t sacrificed anything for the country (motherjones.com). Trump also is known for a long past of degrading women. Recently, a tape has been released saying that he has harassed and violated women. Out of all of them, by far the most unprofessional moment was when he mocked a handicapped news reporter by mimicking his body gestures (nbcnews.com).
Together, we the people, form the best union and with our collective power, can vote to keep him from presidency. Trump is rising in the polls, but not rising in professionalism. He is incapable to be qualified as a president or as any representative of power.
