It’s the first of January and you don’t even know what the word FAFSA means. Applied to any colleges? No. Put down your deposit on your dorm room? No. Have you even decided what college is best for you? No. That’s ok because preparing for your post-secondary education can stress and confuse just about anybody. So here are a few tips for those procrastinators.

First things first – you need to have an idea of what field you want to going into; you don’t need to know what specific job, just the field so you can pick the right college for you.

Once you have an idea about what field you want to go into now, it’s time to do your research. Take an entire day to research colleges. Get off Twitter, take a break from Instagram, and focus on your future. Search engines are there for a reason. For example, start off by typing into Google, “Best colleges for the medical field,” then go from there.

Now you need to apply. Apply, Apply, Apply. Pick five colleges that best meet your needs and wants and apply. Apply to all the colleges that catch your eye within a week to make up for lost time. While you’re waiting to hear the results, apply/ research as many scholarships as possible.

Once you hear back about what colleges you’ve been accepted to do some deeper research to find what college fits you and your needs. Visiting colleges helps with this process.

With these steps, college is abstain able for any procrastinator.
