As the school year comes to an end, students are eager to start summer 2015. Whether they travel across the country, stay inside and play video games, or layout in their backyard, they’re all in for an eventful summer.
Freshman Cody Cooley, for the most part, plans to stay in Monroe this summer.
“I’m most looking forward to being able to swim this summer,” said Cooley.
Junior Noor Awad has big plans and high expectations for this summer. Awad plans to travel to Palestine (a region in Western Asia between the Mediterranean Sea and the Jordan River).
“It’s the first time I get to see my family in 10 years,” said Awad.
Awad said she’ll still have time to enjoy the summer at home as well.
“After a long two months in Palestine, I’ll be excited to come home and see my friends at the end of the summer,” said Awad.
Senior Paris Briggs said he would love to travel to Washington D.C to see our President Barack Obama, but for now, he will stay in Monroe and enjoy his last summer in Monroe.
“I’m sure it will be a good summer because I turn eighteen, and it’s the last summer I have with all my friends before we leave for college,” said Briggs.
Although lying on the beach and swimming in pools are the most common summer activity, Briggs said he dreads the heat.
“I like the summer but hate the sun, especially when I get too dark after being outside,” said Briggs.
So, as we wrap up the year, it’s clear that whether their plans are small or big, Monroe High students know how to have summer fun.
