At Orchard Center High School, a new Pearson’s Education General Education Degree (also known as a GED) is now new and improved. The Learning Bank and OCHS have been working very closely to ensure that their students get the best education possible. Also, many students from the Learning Bank will be tested at the center each week.
“A year or so ago, there was some question about the Learning Bank’s ability to remain open. However, now that it is a part of Monroe Public Schools, it is thriving as a valuable service to our community members who seek to further their education by working towards a GED,” said Dr. Barry Martin, superintendent of Monroe Public Schools.
With Monroe Public Schools’ help, technology and software has been upgraded so students can properly prepare for their GEDs at the Learning Bank.
“I think it’s great that Monroe Public Schools are working with the Learning Bank to make sure students are well prepared, instead of just letting them fend for themselves,” said Kylie Carmen, a student at Monroe High School.
The program offers day classes, which will take place at Orchard Center, and evening classes, which students can attend at the Learning Bank. The Learning Bank and Orchard Center work closely together so students can move back and forth between the centers based upon their schedules.
