The boys varsity basketball team won its game against rival Bedford Jan. 16, following an exciting tropical themed Winterfest week. The Trojans won 62-28.
The girls varsity basketball team played earlier that night but defeated 26-61.
The stands were filled with studens, family members, and people from the community.
The boys played hard against their rival with teamwork being their focus.
“My team played good and our defense helped us win the game. We all played as a team,” said senior Mitchell Timko.
Senior Maurice Hunter remarked, “It was a very exciting game.”
Students at the girls’ game were screaming loud for their team to pull the win, but the lady Trojan couldn’t pull it out. They played a great game, though.
“We didn’t play our best game but we never gave up,” said junior Victoria Vitale.
It was an energetic start to the game especially since Bedford’s varsity girls team is a pretty good team.
“We never gave up. We found out what we need to work on; next time we play them, we will for sure step up our game,” said junior Taylor Thomson.
“We tried our best,” said senior Lindsey Zawacki.
At the halftime of the girl’s game, the court candidates for freshman and sophomores were announced. The winners were, freshman Chloe West and Donovan Issac and sophomores Shianna Labell and Harrison Carter.
During halftime of the boy’s game junior and senior candidates were announced. For juniors, Cayla Frank and Kyle Spare were crowned. For seniors, Sam Meyers and Hunter Massingill were crowned.
The Winterfest games on Friday were very exciting and energetic. The girls lost but the boys won which made all the fans very happy and proud to be a Trojan.
