Google-employee turned rapper Hoodie Allen performed a nearly sold out show of 1700 people on Oct. 29 at the Royal Oak Music Theater in Royal Oak, Michigan. Accompanied by up-and-coming singer MAX and longtime rapper Chiddy Bang, the three-hour long concert didn’t have a moment of dullness; even in between acts, the crowd’s hype gave a sort of party feel to the event. Completed with stage dives into the crowd with a blow up raft and a jump rope made out of bras, this was all a part of his People Keep Talking World Tour, his first show of the tour to be exact.
Opener MAX performed his song “Mug Shot,” as well covers of songs like Justin Bieber’s “Baby.” Chiddy Bang performed his popular songs “Opposite of Adults,” “Breakfast,” “Talking to Myself,” as well as others, all leading up to the main event, Allen.
He made a grand entrance with his album titled song “People Keep Talking,” immediately followed by his chart topping songs “Movie,” “Dumb for You” and an acoustic performance of “Numbers.” Then after a fun-filled hour and a half of non-stop music, he exited the stage, only to be followed by an encore of his two most popular songs “No Interruption” and the fan favorite, as well as mine, “No Faith in Brooklyn.”
Finished with multiple confetti cannons and water bottle showers, he exited the stage for real this time, to do his free meet and greets with the fans. I will definitely be going back to another concert of Allen’s because I had more fun there than I did when I saw Justin Bieber – and that’s saying a lot because I love me some Justin Bieber.
