Here at MHS, they have a new type of security system. Instead of giving the school what they actually need, MHS now has a camera at the front doors that allows the office to view late students’ ID cards before they walk through the door, to make sure that they really are students. The same goes for parents. After finding out who they are, the office unlocks the front door. Sounds cool right? The cool-sounding buzzer that we have now is simply not needed.
MHS does not need a new type of security system. If the school is doing what it is supposed to be doing and keeping guards out by the front gate and keeping a guard by the front door, then all should be fine and MPS shouldn’t spend the unnecessary money for something that it doesn’t really need and spend it on something that the schools can actually use.
Earlier though, school guards did not do what they were supposed to and the front office caught a young student sneaking out the front door, so the camera does do some good things, but it’s just a camera. What if an adult with the intentions of killing comes to the front door and won’t oblige the showing of the school his/her ID, and the school won’t let them in. All the person has to do is break the door open.
So saying that, the camera has its good and bad perks, but why waste the money on something unnecessary? That money could be used to give students larger food portions at school instead of the tiny portions they already have. Maybe the school should even lower the prices of school lunches. Perhaps the school could actually add heaters to the bus so that students don’t have to wear three jackets and don’t freeze while going to school. That’s a better idea.
