Senior Jessica Hammac has become a busy teenager nowadays with homecoming quickly approaching. This court nominee is excited to get the week’s activities started.
Knowing Hammac is competing against her best friend, Sabrina Sulfaro, she is hoping that she’ll come on top.
“I’m really competitive, but I hope that I beat her,” Hammac said.
She said she is excited to be on court this year.
“It’s an honor and it makes me feel happy,” Hammac said.
The candidates have been busy preparing for the week, starting out Monday with the court assembly. Each candidate does a skit with a song of their choice. Hammac was lucky to have a choreographer rehearse with them at Peg Harris to prepare for the skit, although she promises it won’t be too serious.
“Our skit will be a bunch of fun dances because we don’t want to be serious because that’s not just who we are,” she said.
The pressure can get to some of the candidates, but Hammac seems to be taking it in strides.
“It’s nerve-racking because you don’t know if people are going to like it but we’re just going to wing it with this year’s skit,” she said.
Hammac is, of course, going to the dance, but is excited to go with friends. She described her dress as “poufy.”
“My dress is a poufy dress, and its pink, black, and white,” she said.
Hammac said she hopes this year is one to remember.
“Hopefully, this year the DJ is better and a lot more people go,” she said.
