Senior Sarah Watford wasn’t super surprised when she found out she was nominated, but because of the fact that she wasn’t even at school the day the candidates were announced, this explained the reason why she was receiving so many phone calls that day.
Watford said now that she is on court, she is excited and hopes she wins.
“I believe I have a really good chance of winning Homecoming Queen, but I do have some tough competition,” said Watford.
Watford has been using word of mouth mostly to gain votes, but has posters like everyone else. “I’ve been telling, like even people I have no idea who they are, to vote for me,” she said.
As another one of Watford’s ways to win, she likes to vocalize who she is in order to get people who may not even know her, as well as the people that do, to get votes.
“At Trojan Pride Night, I went to the karaoke room and stopped the whole class and told them all to vote for me,” she said.
Aside from homecoming court, Watford likes to participate in homecoming activities such as spirit week.
“I like to go all out for spirit week, even if I’m not on homecoming court,” Watford said.
She also enjoys being included in the powder puff game.
“One time I got here at like five o’clock in the morning just to get a seat,” she said.
For Watford’s homecoming court skit, she plans to include two friends who aren’t on court. She said she wants use a variety of songs in addition. She said she believes that her mock, the napoleon dynamite dance, will bring fame to the skit.
