Monroe High School’s homecoming theme this year is “Under the Sea.”
Festivities kick off Monday with students feeling “under the sea” while wearing all blue, the court assembly will begin at 8:30 a.m. in the gym.
On Tuesday, Monroe High will feel tropical with students dressed up in flower shirts, grass skirts, and leis for Hawaiian Day. Students will be voting for their favorite homecoming candidate during Trojan Family Time.
Wednesday, students can dress the same as their group of friends for “School of Fish Day.” Monroe High clubs will be running Food Court during all lunches. The junior and senior girls will battle it out during the returned Powder Puff game, which will be held at 6 p.m. on the football field. The game will be followed by a bonfire on the gravel area on the edge of the student parking lot.
Thursday, students can come to school in an eye patch or bandana for “Sailor/Pirate day.”
Rounding out the week will be Monroe High Spirit Day on Friday. The Pep Assembly will be held at 1:45 p.m. in the gym.
The Homecoming Parade will start at 5 p.m. at Monroe Middle School and end at K of C Hall via Monroe Street. Several clubs and classes have been working hard to win best float.
The varsity football team will take on Ann Arbor-Pioneer High School at 7 p.m. on Bunkelman Field.
The homecoming candidates will be introduced on the field during halftime. The King, Queen, Prince, and Princess will be crowned.
To conclude the homecoming festivities, the dance will take place the following day from 7:30 p.m. to 11 p.m. in the Monroe High School gym and commons.
