The former star and National College Athletic Association cover holder Denard Robinson was selected into the National Football League by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 136th pick in the draft. Robinson was selected in the fifth round of picks.
“I don’t think he’s good enough to be in the pros; I mean it’s better that he was drafted as a running back or wide receiver because he doesn’t have the talent to be a quarterback,” said senior Alexander Blake.
Behind sketchy passing, Robinson holds the current record for most rushing touchdowns and rushing yards by a quarterback for the Michigan Wolverines. He also caught some passes for the Wolverines as well.
“I think Denard’s going to be a great fit for this team. Not only can he rush and pass, but he could be a deadly punt returner and split back. He’s really pulling himself together as elite back and I hope to see him exceed in the pros. He needs to work on his ball handling and if he does, he will end up being great,” said sophomore Sonny Johnson.
Robinson swiped the college football cover from Ryan Swope, running back from Texas A and M University. He only led by 1,000 votes.
“Denard could be good, depending on how he handles himself during the offseason. If he stays healthy, he’ll be a great back. He needs to stay healthy and workout daily to keep his body in shape. He also needs to learn how to avoid unnecessary hits. If he gets hit as hard as he did in college then he will either end up getting hurt or he will be out for his career. If he handles himself well , then he should be a good asset,” said junior Kevin Stinette.
