Around 14,000 kids to about 20,000 kids in Michigan are left with no home or any parents that can’t treat them right or provide them with what they need (adoptionfacts.com).
Kids suffer everyday looking for a loving home where they don’t have to worry about getting hurt or are not able to eat. It hurts them to be taken from their siblings and their parents even if they knew their parents did wrong.
Up to 80 percent of kids in foster care end up with a serious emotional problem. More than 60,000kids terminate their parental rights. Most kids age out of the system rather than ever finding a home (adoptionfacts.com).
Kids can get up to $2,000 for adoption subsidies every month. Some can get medical benefits, if they are under 18 and fall into the following categories: low income, child, pregnant woman, and person with disability (standupforhealthcare.org)
It’s hard on kids but in the end they get many benefits from the state that they can use even after they turn 18, such as free college for a four year degree.
In the end there are many things that come with fostering a child. It may be hard, but in the end it pays off.
