To most, senior Sydnee Begley seems like the kind of gal that you can bring home to mom. With her grades, extra-curricular activities, and personality, Begley is just one of those girls with which anybody can be friends.
After graduating from Monroe High, Begley plans on going into forensic nursing and would like to study at either University of Michigan or Eastern Michigan University. To Begley, forensic nursing is the best way to go.
“I mean, nursing is interesting and crime scene stuff is cool, too,” said Begley about why she chose the path.
This year, Begley has spent her time with different school-related activities and is very proud of her achievements in them. Begley has been on the swim team for two years now and said she has been improving.
“It’s just been a good season,” started Begley. “I dropped some time on my 100-free.”
Begley is also a part of marching band, where she plays trumpet, and has been since sixth grade. She was the drum major last year as well as this year, and is very proud of her band for receiving all 1s at festival.
When Begley is outside of school, she enjoys spending some alone time drawing or hanging out with her friends.
One of her friends, Jenna Graves, was also nominated, which Begley said she was happy about. When Begley was nominated, however, she said that she was startled.
“I was kind of surprised, and then grateful,” she said.
When it comes to doing anything to celebrate her Winterfest nomination, Begley would rather keep it small.
“I’m not even going to Winterfest, so I probably won’t do anything,” she said. “Maybe I’ll just go out with some friends.”
