Coming to a large high school from the much smaller middle school has its advantages and disadvantages and freshman court candidate Rachael Miner has already experienced some of both of these.
Miner’s favorite part of being on court is that she got an opportunity to show a talent that she has while singing Waiting on the World to Change by John Mayer with fellow candidate Cameron Delben at Monday’s assembly.
As a child, she was a very energetic kid and her favorite childhood memory is when she went to Disneyland.
“It makes you feel like a child again and you use your imagination again,” Miner said.
Miner has already made many memories here at MHS, listing making new friends and meeting tons of new people as a few of her favorites. Her most embarrassing moment here was falling up the stairs on the way to class.
Miner is a part of Impact club and is also on indoor and outdoor track teams. Her hobbies outside of school include working at the ISD, working at a soup kitchen, writing, and going shopping.
Miner is interested in going to Eastern Michigan or Central Michigan University to go into the criminal justice field and is thinking about possibly becoming a police officer.
One piece of advice Miner wanted to share was not to be afraid to do something.
Two people Miner looks up to are her stepmom and Taylor Swift. She looks up to her stepmom because she is a police officer and she looks up to Taylor Swift because she’s “fearless,” quoting the title of one of Swift’s title tracks.
When someone hears her name, she wants them to think of a person with high potential; someone who isn’t afraid to be themselves; and someone who is a role model.
