Having the constant juggling of two sports and playing a musical instrument may be tough for some, but for one Winterfest candidate it adds an equal balance to his busy day at Monroe High.
Freshman Cameron Delben not only is a two-sport athlete, playing soccer and running track but also adds the unique skill of playing an instrument, strumming the strings like Jimmy Hendrix. These characteristics and talents make up the core of this elected Winterfest candidate.
“I play soccer, run track and one of my hobbies are music,” said Delben.
Delben is a 14-year-old student who got elected for Winterfest this year and he hopes that he got the crowd swaying with phone lights in air at his Winterfest court skit. Trying to persuade the voters, he added his own pizazz to the classic song “Waiting on the world to change” by John Mayer. He performed this along with fellow candidate freshman Rachel Miner.
“Me and Rachael Miner are doing it together, I’m playing guitar and she’s singing the song, it seems pretty exciting to be on winter fest court.” said Delben.
Not only does Delben have an all-around personality, he brings humor to the table to “hit the ball out the park”.
“I think he’s funny because he turns everything people say into something funny, he clears the bad tension in the room with some of the jokes he says. I definitely could vote for him just based on how funny he really is,” said Freshman Kyle Spare.
