Walking the halls of Monroe High for the first time is hard. Going from 500 students to a little over 2000, it’s hard to be nice to everyone and not judge but freshman Caitlin Young tried her best.
Young came to Monroe expecting something totally different than reality.
“Big fun, totally not what I expected,” said Young.
So, naturally, when hearing her name for the Winterfest nominees she was surprised.
“I am not really a very interesting person,” said Young.
In the end she decided it was because she tries her best to be nice to everyone she meets.
“I guess I was nominated because I am a nice person,” said Young.
Like most teenagers, Young loves running, texting, sleeping and eating.
“My mom makes the best Mac and cheese; she uses like five pounds of cheese,” said Young.
She plays softball and plans to run track in the spring. She gives every sport her all.
Being a freshman everything is so new, so being on Winterfest court her first year is kind of scary, especially the skit.
“It’s exciting and scary at the same time but it’s going to be really fun,” said Young.
Even if Young doesn’t win, she said she is okay with it. The experience of being nominated is enough but it won’t hurt to win either.
“If I win then I win, but if I lose I am fine with it,” said Young.
