Most people know Riley Delben as a girl who is always happy, friendly and active; she’s always doing something. She is a 16-year-old junior who is involved in almost everything.
She said she likes to get involved in different programs or clubs here at MHS. She plays soccer, as well as participates in NHS, Yearbook, and the S-club. She is in Trojan Impact club and is an Ignition Mentor, which is a group of students coming together to help new freshman.
Delben’s favorite thing to do is run.
She has been running cross country and track for seven years and has run in the Special Olympics. She also involves herself in Girls on the Run.
“I’ve run half a marathon, which is 13.1 miles,” Delben said proudly of her achievement.
Delben is not quite sure what she wants to do with her future yet.
“I’m interested either in being a dermatologist or something in the health field; or a journalist or photographer. I don’t really know yet,” Delben said.
Delben said she enjoys high school; she’s an ordinary girl who has embarrassing moment, too.
“I’ve had so many embarrassing moments. One time I walked into the boy’s bathroom,” she said, laughing.
She is an ordinary girl who looks up to her mom. The only difference is her mom is not ordinary.
“My mom – she is always going out of her way to help people and to put other people before herself. She is always trying to make the world a better place, and she never settles for being comfortable,” She said.
Delben said she has somewhat of an idea where she wants to go to college.
“If I run in college, I’ll probably be going to a Division III school, but if I don’t, I think I want to go to U of M,” said Delben. “I’ve always loved Ann Arbor.”
