Sophomore Peyton Irwin was nominated on Monroe High’s 2013 Winterfest court.
Irwin and his family are very into sports; he has an older sister who plays college softball that he said he looks up to very much because she’s had so many great accomplishments in life and is successful. His sister inspires him to go to college and play sports like she did.
“I would really like to go to University of Michigan in Ann Arbor and play basketball and hopefully graduate as a forensic scientist; that would be so fun,” said Irwin.
This looks like a pretty stable plan for Irwin considering he has all A’s and is involved in three different clubs at MHS, which include Trojan Impact, GSA, and being an ignition mentor for the freshman.
Irwin has a love for movies, but he said if he had to choose a favorite movie it would have to be The Hunger Games.
Not everyone is perfect, though; on the second day of freshman year he fell down the stairs in front of a big crowd, but he still got back up and kept going.
“I’m really nervous for spirit week to do my skit, ‘Burn Baby Burn,’ in front of the whole student body,” said Irwin. “But I’m really excited at the same time.”
Usually when you ask people what their favorite subject is in school, they don’t say math. But not Irwin, he loves math; it’s his favorite and best subject, which is generally people’s worst subject.
