Monroe High’s lunches are cracking down on being healthy. But are they doing it the right way? To me, the answer is no. Force feeding healthy foods down rebel teenagers isn’t going to get far. I understand that the teachers along with parents want their students to eat healthier, but you should make it their choice, otherwise, right after high school they’re going to go right back to McDonalds.
By providing pizza and salads you give the students the option of being healthy or to eat grease with a little bit of bread. If the school really cared about students eating right then the only option given to us would be healthy.
I’m not sure if the school knows this but if not, so prepare for a shock of a lifetime. It’s not right to only provide diet pop to students while all teachers have access to regular pop in the teachers’ lounge. Yeah, we hate that. If students are old enough to drive to school, I’m pretty sure they are old enough to know what kind of pop to drink. Studies have been proving that diet pop isn’t exactly “healthy.”
The amount of times the pizza has changed in Monroe High is crazy. We should stick to one kind (unless funds go away or something like that). We should just have the same amount of healthy food as bad food provided to us.
I understand where teachers are coming from and it is right to help students make healthier choices, but I believe they can do a better job of it.
