In Monroe’s final game of the season, the Trojans slipped by the Fordson Tractors with a score of 8-6. The Trojans ended its regular season with a 7-2 record.
“It was a tough game defensively, but we prevailed in the end,” said junior Allen Spaulding.
The Trojans had battled it out all game with the Tractors, up until senior Alec Stewart scored Monroe’s only touchdown. Stewart also scored the two-point conversion.
“It was one of our better games but we still have not played to our full potential. I think that coming off of a win is better than coming off of a loss. I think we’re ready to go full speed ahead into Pioneer,” said Stewart.
The Trojans stumbled on their Homecoming game the week before but came back to command the Tractors. This win got its first round playoff battle against the Ann Arbor Pioneers.
“I thought it went really well and we pulled together as a team. I think it gave us good momentum going into the next game,” said junior Andrew Notario.
The team will play the Pioneers Friday, Oct. 26 at Bunkleman field at 7:00 p.m. This is its first playoff game.
“Defense played good, but our offence needs to be more efficient. It’s good that our defense is showing up, but we need to put more points on the board,” said senior Jake Notario.
The Trojans show no sign of stopping going into the Pioneer Game. The Trojans have made the playoffs the past two years.
