Monroe students might view Senior Thomas West as simply a football-playing jock who made the 2012 homecoming court; however, he is a family-kind-of-guy who shows a personality that most probably would want to meet.
West enjoys spending time with family, friends, and playing football. He spends most of his days with his family and his younger sister, Chloe, who is twelve years old.
“Family is my life. If I’m not with family, I’m playing football. My whole family goes and watches all my games. They tell me things I can work on and things I did good. My family definitely is my top priority,” said West.
West has led the Monroe high football team to an incredible 5-0 record, beating its latest opponent, the Ann Arbor River Rats 48-21. In the game, West scored twice.
“Football definitely changed my life. I played it as a kid, and I play it now for Monroe. It’s just crazy how much you grow over the years,” said West.
Other than football and family, West made court this year, along with many of his other friends. He plans to do a skit with Senior Amanda Arnett in the theme of Grease.
“I’m glad that me and my buddies made court; I was actually a little surprised when I made it. If I win, I win, but winning isn’t everything. At least I made court,” said West
West also plays shortstop in baseball and he is in Student Council for Monroe High. He said he hopes to have a lot of laughs and good times through this year’s election.
