Many people on this year’s Homecoming court are busy making posters for their campaign, working on their court assembly performances, or doing everything in their power to score votes. But for queen candidate Claire Antrassian, these are only a few of the many things she has to work on in her daily life.
Antrassian is the vice president of NTHS, the secretary of NHS, an Ignition Mentor, captain of the varsity swim team, and a hurtle runner for the track team. On top of all this, she enjoys painting, sewing, running, and swimming.
“I take part in so many activities because I love to stay busy and involved in the school,” said Antrassian.
Having played softball for MHS her freshman and sophomore year, Antrassian said she only began running hurtles for the track team last season, and she enjoys it very much. She has been on the swim team for four years and enjoys swimming the 200 Meter medley the best.
“I like the bonding of the [swim] team and how it’s an individual sport and a team sport at the same time,” said Antrassian.
She also likes painting, having quickly listed it as one of her favorite things to do. She especially enjoys abstract art.
“Ever since I got my hands on paint, it was kind of a ‘there you go’ moment,” she said.
Claire said she is really happy to be on court.
“I’m okay if I don’t win,” she said, “but it’s just an honor to be on court.”
