Many students at Monroe High complain about the food it serves. Sure, the pizza is greasy, the nachos are stale and the main meal tastes like cardboard. But, the main problem is the amount of time given to eat.
Monroe High is known to have many students, as many high schools, but when lunch time strikes, hundreds of kids run through the commons fighting for a seat at a table (mind you, many fighting for a spot in the lunch line).
Lunch lines at Monroe are terrifying; you could be waiting in the line for pizza but mysteriously end up in the burger line. Service takes way too long making you miss half of your lunch period, and by the time you sit down, you have to leave to your next class. Speed walking through the halls and cutting the line just doesn’t cut it at Monroe High these days.
Many of us wonder when Monroe will see that twenty five minutes for lunch isn’t enough. We’re all tired of having to shove our food down our throats or just skipping a meal because we don’t have enough time. People say, “Oh well, why don’t you just eat in class?” Because teachers don’t let us! “We came to learn, not to eat,” as many teachers here say.
In all honesty, we’d probably all be fine if we got out at 2:30 pm rather than 2:11 p.m. if that meant a longer lunch period. What’s the point of having lunch when you don’t have time to eat?
